Velma May Anderson, was the only girl and last child born to the late Monroe and Laura Davenport May on January 31, 1932, in Gallman, MS.
She was baptized and united with her home church, Clear Creek No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church in Gallman, MS. Later in life, she joined St. James M.B. Church in Hazlehurst, MS where she sang in the choir, attended Sunday school, and remained a member until her health failed.
Over the course of her life, she worked for Sandersons Farms, Edward Hyman, Marxman’s and Bernstein Shirt Factory. She took pride in her work and worked extremely hard to take care of her family. She worked so hard that she was able to send her two children to Alcorn State University, where they received their degrees. After working for nearly 50 years, she retired.
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, Velma peacefully traded her earthly life for eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Gwendolyn, Tony (Meta); grandbabies, Maya, Jori, and Abrea; nieces, nephews, special long-life friends, whom she loved dearly.
Preceding Velma in death are her daughter, Trina Yvonne, two angel grands, Ryan Jamar and Zariah Nikhol Anderson. and brothers, John Lewis and Robert Earl.
