Velvet Denise Banks

Velvet Denise Banks was born May 3, 1961 Melvia Banks and the late George Washington Peek, Jr. in Oxford, MS.

“Nisey,” as she was affectionately called, received her education from Oxford School District and graduated in 1979.  She attended Ole Miss and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

 She was employed by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an administrative assistant. During her down time, she loved to write, garden, travel, fish, shop, and cook. 

On April 27, 2021, she passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – NM. She leaves to cherish her memories, her two daughters, Chasitty Banks of Hendersonville, TN and Ashlee Banks of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren; one brother, Mark A. McReynolds of Nashville, TN, companion, Dennis O. Toles of Taylor, MS; extended family, Tacarra Toles Hayes (Willie), Makenzie Toles, Kristen Toles, and Makayla Toles all of Oxford, MS and Megan Toles of Dallas, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
