Vernetha Wells was born on January 23, 1953, to the late Henry Miller, Jr. and Mildred Miller. She professed her faith in Jehovah and joined the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. She was baptized July 23, 1977, at a young age and she remained faithful until her death. She was a faithful witness in telling others about our loving creator, Jehovah. Vernetha was zealous in her ministry, always willing to drive others in the door to door ministry to teach them about the Bible. She would meet out early at 7:00 a.m. to do public witnessing because she had a great love for people and her Father, Jehovah God. She did her best in applying Jesus words to go and teach the Bible, and that is what she did, voluntarily.
Vernetha was united in holy matrimony to Robert Gene Buford. To this union, two children were born. She later united in holy matrimony to Leo Wells, Sr. With their hearts being filled with so much love, they wanted to share that love with someone less fortunate, and they adopted a son.
Vernetha was employed at Emerson Electric Company for many years. During her employment at Emerson Electric, she received her GED. She was later employment in Transportation for Lafayette County School District and Oxford School District. She retired from the Oxford School District in May, 2022.
She departed her life peacefully on July 5, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her father (Henry), mother (Mildred), son (Robert), stepson (Jeffery), and husbands (Robert G. and Leo).
Vernetha leaves to cherish her memories, daughter: Laraine Miller and son: Jarameo Wells both of Oxford; 3 stepchildren: Thomas Wells, Leo (Wonda) Wells, Jr., and LaQuita Wells; sisters: Helen (Ronnie) Wiley, of Colorado, Diane (John) Harden and Youlanda (Samuel) Logan of Atlanta, GA; brothers: Kenneth (Theresa) Miller, Curtis (Minnie) Miller, James Miller and Anthony Miller; daughter-in-law: Trina Buford, all of Oxford MS; aunt: Dorothy Butler; two uncles: Ted (Charlene) Miller, Willie Earl (Elena) Miller; eight special grandchildren: Marlando, Kristopher, Jaylen, Jayla, Kana, Kymberlee, A.J. and Nyjeric, along with 7 other grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
