Mr. William C. Love, a man who's life exemplified every essence of the definition of his last name, "LOVE." William C. Love was born March 16, 1950, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late John Love and Ida Lou Price. Raised in a loving Christian home, William accepted Christ at an early age and joined Tobby Tubby MB Church, in Oxford, Mississippi. As a Tobby Tubby member, William was a faithful member of the choir, sang with the male choir, served on the Deacon Board and fellowshipped with Harrisonville MB Church (his wife's church).
William received his formal education in the Oxford School District where he attended Central High School. In school, he fell in love and in 1972, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Peel, who became his life partner and together they raised six children and he often fellowshipped with Harrisonville MB Church, which is his lovely wife's church. William supported his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather, tending to his family's needs through his 37 years of employment as a cook with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Mississippi, and retiring when his health no longer allowed him to do what he enjoyed doing.
During William's 37 year union with the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, William formed many strong bonds. Bonds that still last until this day. Bonds that led him and Dorothy to adopt Erin Smith into their family as a god-daughter. William loved the Lord and loved singing praises to Him. He loved his church, he loved cooking and he loved softball. He coached softball for countless years. William fathered and founded the talented gospel singing group, "THE LOVE SISTERS"
On Tuesday evening, July 16, 2024, after a hard battle with health issues, the one whom William loved to sing about and sing praises to, said to him "William, my son, your battle has been fought and now the victory has been won. Come unto me and take your rest." William, surrounded by his loving family, went peacefully home to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: His wife, Dorothy J. Love of Oxford MS; his son: Corey (Jackie) Peel of Memphis TN; his daughters: Pamela (Frederick) Carothers, Chrystal (Kevin) Scruggs, Tracie Love, Ashley (Josh) Buford, and Allison (Corey) White, all of Oxford MS; his brother, Henry (Fay) Price of Oxford MS; his sisters: Dora (Wayne) Martin of Texarkana TX, Gloria (Carol) Pringle and Eva (Casey) Bowie, both of Oxford MS; 16, grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; five brothers-in-law; two sisters in law; two god daughters: Erin Smith and Ashley Ivy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
William is preceded in death by his parents: John Love and Ida Lou Price; one grandchild, Amber; one great grandchild, Coo; and one brother, Stonewall "Bo" Webb.
The moment that you died my heart was torn in two. One side filled with heartache, the other died with you. I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheeks. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day, but missing you is heartache that never goes away, I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. Until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again.
I love you, Dorothy
