Willie Jean Kilgore Mosby, was the youngest of ten children born to the late Hubert and Willie B. (Marzette) Kilgore on January 16, 1948 in Lafayette County, Mississippi. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and united with Flint Hill MB Church in Etta, MS. She later united with St. Paul Baptist Church in Racine, WI, where she was a member for over 40 years and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Jean, as she was affectionately known, was a 1968 graduate of Central High School in Oxford, MS. After graduation, she attended Mississippi Valley State University and later transferred to the University of Mississippi. majoring in Art History and Education. In 2004, Jean pursued and earned a Master of Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In August of 1976, she married Dwight A. Mosby and to this union two children were born.
Jean was employed with the Racine County Housing Authority as a Housing Management Specialist until her retirement. After retirement, she pursued real estate as a career and became the co-owner and broker of Mosby Realty. Jean was a talented artist, drawing and sculpturing magnificent pieces that we evident by the displays in her home. She will be remembered for her kindness and for her love for her family. She especially loved being a grandmother and supporting her grandchildren in all their endeavors.
On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Jean passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and close friends. She is lovingly remembered by her husband: Dwight; her children: Nicole (Jeff) Urquhart of Racine WI, and Keith Mosby of Etta MS; her stepchildren: Dwight Mosby, Jr., and Detra Moorman of Manassas VA; grandchildren: Haley, Brandee, Jeffery, Kalyn, Mabuto, Kenadi, and Davier; her siblings: Dozie Kilgore, Mae Scarborough and Lifous (Geraldine) Kilgore all of Etta MS; and brother-in-law: Johnny Jackson of Xenia OH. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Jean was preceded in death not only by her parents, but by her mother-in-law: Willie Mae Mosby, grand daugther: Kayla Urquhart; sibling and their spouses: Vassar (Etoy) Kilgore, Hubert (Hattie Mae) Kilgore, Hazzie (Rev. Alvin) Powell, Ida (J. B.) Driver, Joe (Ruby) Kilgore, Jerry Kilgore and her sister-in-law: Janice Jackson.
