Willie Rogers Obituary

Willie Rogers, son of the late Sulton Rogers and Ardelua Wadley, was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on November 17, 1948.
 
Willie accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined Mount Hope M.B. Church.
 
He received his education from Oxford Taylor School. After school, Willie joined the United States Army and served his country. He was a Viet Nam Veteran. When he returned from the army,  he gained employment with Belk Ford and worked there for 15 years. He later relocated to Augusta, GA and was hired in the body shop at Taylor Toyota, where he worked for 15 more years before retiring. Willie had many hobbies that included fishing, target shooting, reading, and watching his westerns
 
Willie was united in matrimony to Katie Barrs. Shortly after retirement, Willie and Katie moved back to Mississippi.
 
The Lord God giveth, the Lord God taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. On Saturday October 23, 2021, Willie made his transition to be with the Lord
 
Willie is lovingly remembred by his wife,  Katie Rogers of Olive Branch, MS,  his children: Shirley Pegues of Germantown, TN, Dennexx (Andrew) McClendon of Pensacola, FL, Donquel Leavell of Columbus, GA, Willie Rogers, Jr. of Tupelo, MS, Broderick (Bethany) Rogers also of Tupelo, MS, Kamilah Rogers Pearson of Mesquite, TX and Priscilla Phillips of Oxford, MS,  step-children: Sally Morrison, Marie Morgan, Nora Morrison, Carolyn Morrison of Atkins, SC, Konjuwa Williams, Michelle Phillips, Tracy (Mont) Wadley and Matthew Philips, siblings: Allie Shaw, Loretta Rogers of Oxford, MS, Katie B. Rogers, Roy Rogers, Jackie Rogers, and Jimmy Rogers all of Syracuse, NY, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and favored nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents: Sulton Rogers and Ardelua Rogers Johnson, brothers: Sammie Lee Rogers, R.V. Rogers and Bobby Martin and one sister: Lossie Mae Price.
