Wonder Dunn Obituary

Wonder Lean Gipson Dunn was born September 12, 1956, to the late George and Ozadell Lewis Gipson in Oxford, MS.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at East Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church. Wonder was a member of the choir and a faithful member until her death.

Her education was received from Oxford School District, and she was a proud member of the Oxford High School’s class of 1974.

On July 1, 1978, Wonder was united in holy matrimony to Abraham Dunn and to this union four children were born. She was employed as a Teacher’s Assistant at Bramlett Elementary School until her health failed. She never left the ‘classroom’ at work as she would teach her children daily. Whether it be by flashcards, reading, or writing, she instilled the value of education in them. Though battling health issues, Wonder always pushed forward, showed love to those around her, welcomed you with an open heart, and had inspirational talks/messages for those in need of them.

In March 2020, Wonder accepted her call to the ministry. She was ordained alongside her husband in March 2021 under the leadership of Dr. Rickey Scott. She served as an Associate Minister at East Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church.

Wonder enjoyed sewing, cooking, and most of all being with her grandchildren. Oh, how she loved her grands and would go out of her way to do for them. She’s remembered as being loving, caring, compassionate, and praying wife, mother, and grandmother. There was never a dull moment with Wonder.

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi, Wonder accepted her final call from her Master. She peacefully traded her earthly life for life everlasting with Christ. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and motherly love will be missed dearly yet cherished forever by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Abraham Dunn of Oxford, MS; children, Nicholas Dunn, Josiah Dunn, Nakeisha Dunn, and Felicia Dunn all of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Makayla Nalls of Southaven, MS, Faith Dunn and Nicholas J. Dunn II both of Oxford, MS; siblings, Rev. Frank (Rev. Mattie) Gipson of Oxford, MS, Rev. Clinton Gipson of Jackson, TN, and Ellen (Mickey) Fox of Oxford, MS; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wonder was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Willie B. Gipson, Rev. Marvin Gipson, George Wade Gipson, and Maudie Williams.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
