It’s never easy to lose a loved one - but the stress of a pandemic makes it even harder. We lost my dad on 4/22/20 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. It broke me to lose him, but then to know we wouldn’t be able to celebrate his life properly gave me anxiety. My family opted to use L. Hodges Funeral Home for my dad’s service based on comfort and reputation. We’ve know Ms. LaVera and the Hodges family for years. I’m so glad we entrusted my dad to them. They were communicative and thoughtful. Zedrick met with my family and I and walked through every single detail of the service. He was professional, knowledgeable, and sympathetic to our needs. Ms. LaVera reached out to us constantly to make sure we were taken care of. My dad’s obituary was so beautiful - I literally teared up when I first saw it. They were able to edit the photos we provided beautifully and seamlessly, and allowed us to review and make revisions prior to the service (although none were needed). When I finally saw my dad, he looked like the happy, cheerful man I remembered him to be. The way L. Hodges was able to capture the essence of his personality made my heart so happy. It gave me comfort to see him that way - especially considering his final days were spent in a hospital hooked to tubes and cords. The graveside service was lovely. Our immediate family and my dad’s closest friends were able to give him a proper send off surrounded by the people who loved him the most. From start to finish, L. Hodges Funeral Home gave us not only the service, but the care our family needed at the time. The Hodges Family, Ms. LaVera and Mrs. Tonya, are staples in the community. They know their clients and their families. Every job is personal, and it shows in their work. Thank you for taking such great care of my family. I will forever see my dad the way he looked that day - peaceful, happy, smiling, and proud.
