Quincy Blackmon

October 10, 1974 ~ September 12, 2021 (age 46)


Quincy Blackmon was born October 10, 1974, to the late James and Santhan Smith Blackmon in Jackson, MS.

Quincy was baptized at Second Baptist Church at a young age. He received his education from Oxford City Schools and graduated in the class of 1993. In high school, Quincy played football but found his joy in the game of basketball. He was smooth on the court, and you could always find him at the Oxford Park Commission Gym on the weekends playing basketball with his friends.

He was good with his hands and in addition to playing basketball, Quincy passed time by drawing. He was an amazing artist. His art skills also exuded in his professional career as barber. He received his certification from Mississippi Barber Academy in Jackson, MS. Quincy was very talented and was no stranger to hard work. Also, while in Jackson, he worked at Milwaukee Tools and Fountain Electric.

When he returned to Oxford, he gained employment as a custodian at the University of Mississippi.

On Sunday, September 12, 2021, Quincy passed away at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. His humble spirit and laid-back personality will be missed by his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Quinya Blackmon of Atascosita, TX and Quayla Blackmon of Oxford, MS; sisters, Tamla (Henry) Brown of Oxford, MS and Minister Angela (Carl) Bates of Jackson, MS; aunts, Gloria (Stone) Blackmon of Jackson MS, Brenda Blackmon of Dallas, TX, Patricia Blackmon of Cleveland, OH, and Delilah (Quinton) Foreman of Oxford, MS; uncle, Charles (Pepper) Blackmon of Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Quincy was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandmother, Nancy Thomas, paternal grandparents, Willie Dew and Willie James Blackmon, aunt, Dorothy Brown, and uncles, Larry Blackmon, Harry Blackmon, and Andrew Blackmon.
